SBS was engaged by the Connecticut Department of Public Works to provide Construction Administration Services for the renovation of Gallaudet Hall on the campus of Central Connecticut State University. The Gallaudet Hall project included renovations to the pre-existing seven story 57,000 square foot Residence Hall. During construction, SBS acted as the Connecticut Department of Public Works project representative and liaison to campus and Connecticut State University System officials.
The construction scope of work included a complete interior renovation, a new entry vestibule and the replacement of the existing flat roof with a trussed copper standing seam roof. A comprehensive hazardous materials abatement was required to be completed prior to the reconstruction work. SBS was responsible for monitoring the construction process including schedule, budget and construction quality and providing oversight and management of the construction project closeout. Upon completion of the building's systems, SBS was responsible for developing and implementing HVAC system functional performance testing to verify HVAC system performance.
The project was completed in December of 2005 with a construction budget of approximately $8.2 million.
