Hardaway Associates
Ambulatory SurgerySurgical Centers
Various Locations
Hardaway Associates hired SBS to commission the HVAC systems of ambulatory surgery centers that they have designed. In this role, SBS has been implementing a systematic process designed to ensure that the HVAC and related systems function properly to meet the Owner’s requirements. This is achieved by applying quality control principles to all aspects of the HVAC systems, including inspection and testing of the air handler units, boilers, VAV boxes, exhaust fans, steam generators, and humidifiers. Given the sensitive nature of work being conducted in the building, properly functioning heating and cooling systems, and space pressure relationships are critical. SBS also provides check-balancing services, verifies proper space pressurization of operating and procedure rooms, and tests emergency inspection modes of operation.
The first project completed was at the West Suburban Eye Surgery Center just outside of Boston, MA. The West Suburban Eye Surgery Center is part of a growing industry of outpatient clinics performing surgery and providing associated care services to patients. Typically these clinics occupy 10,000 to 15,000 gsf and include three to six operating rooms, pre- and post-operative holding areas, consultation/exam rooms, administrative offices, a conference room, and a waiting/reception area. SBS has also provided commissioning services at the Norwood Ambulatory Center in MA, the Blue Bell Ambulatory Center in PA, the Allentown Ambulatory Surgery Center in PA, the Surgery Center of the Main Line in PA, Somerset Surgery Center in PA, Essex Specialized Surgical Institute in NJ, and the Raritan Valley Surgery Center in NJ.
