New Britain Emergency Medical Services
Facilities Renovation New Britain, Connecticut
After having undergone a comprehensive facilities and needs assessment, New Britain Emergency Medical Services (NBEMS) determined that it would be best served by purchasing its presently leased property and performing extensive renovations to meet its current and future needs.
The project included major upgrades to address the deferred maintenance needs of the existing facility as well as an expansion to accommodate the growth needs of NBEMS. The project included hazardous material abatement, partial building demolition, utility and envelope infrastructure upgrades, an expansion of emergency medical services vehicle storage, the provision of emergency power capabilities for prolonged utility outages and improved housing for medical supplies, oxygen and other bulk storage. A critical component of this project was the need to perform all renovations and upgrades while maintaining the ongoing 24/7 EMS operations.
SBS was the Owner’s Representative providing comprehensive Project Management and Building Commissioning services. In this capacity, SBS was directly responsible for project planning, budgeting, design/construction oversight, commissioning, move coordinatibr />on, and closeout of the project.
