Hopkins School
Library and Gallery Renovation
New Haven, Connecticut
The Hopkins Library is an information-rich, technology-dense learning center providing its students, faculty and staff the opportunity for research, study and leisure reading. In furthering its mission of helping students to become independent learners and to cultivate life-long habits of scholarship, Hopkins School embarked upon the renovation to the existing Library/Learning Center and plaza above adjacent to Baldwin Hall on the Hopkins School Campus in New Haven, CT. The project consisted of renovations to approximately 14,400 GSF of the existing structure and renovation to the open air terrace plaza above consisting of approximately 8,000 GSF.
A substantial portion of the renovations took place during the academic year and ultimately took over the classrooms above the existing library facility to create a two-story library with group study rooms, an art gallery, and a faculty reading room.
SBS served as the Owner’s Representative providing comprehensive Project Management and Building Commissioning services. In this capacity, SBS was directly responsible for the project planning, budgeting, design/construction oversight, commissioning, move coordination and closeout of the project.
