The Richard T. and Sally E. Flood Athletic Center
Salisbury, CT
The Salisbury School is the quintessential New England preparatory school. This all-boys private college-preparatory school was founded in 1901 and encompasses 725 acres of picturesque buildings and landscapes.
In continuing its major campaign of expansion and renewal, Salisbury embarked upon the construction of a new athletic center. The new Richard T. and Sally E. Flood Athletic Center provides the Salisbury School athletic program with a facility which reflects its level of excellence.
The Center features a 2,000 square-foot fitness center, a newly renovated Athletic Hall of Fame, and six international squash courts. A new basketball center, located within the new athletic facility, includes two courts and incorporates practice and competition facilities to meet the needs of all of Salisbury’s athletic teams. Salisbury’s Rudd Rink is one of the largest Olympic-sized ice surfaces in the nation. The existing building housing Rudd Rink will be demolished while keeping the rink in place while upgrading its mechanical systems. A new, expanded building will be constructed to house the rink and will be connected to the new athletic center via a common pavilion. Additionally, students will have access to a greatly expanded training facility, an enlarged equipment “cage” and meeting rooms. The athletic center has great sightlines for spectators and is ADA compliant.
In its capacity as Owner’s Representative, SBS was responsible for managing all aspects of the project on the Owner’s behalf. SBS provided comprehensive Project Management and Building Commissioning services. In this capacity, SBS was directly responsible for the project planning, budgeting, design/construction oversight, commissioning, move coordination and closeout of the project.
