Connecticut Light & Power (CL&P) and United Illuminating (UI) have launched a Retro-Commissioning Program with financial incentives available through the Connecticut Energy Efficiency Program. The program is designed for CL&P and UI customers who want to conduct an in-depth review for inefficiencies in their building’s energy management systems and operating practices. The objective of the program is to find low- or no-cost, non-capital energy efficient measures that can be implemented effectively and quickly resulting in decreased energy consumption.
As part of the CL&P/UI Retro-Commissioning Program, SBS has been retained to provide the City of Hartford with a building survey, retro-commissioning investigation, implementation services, training and measurement and verification for a number of its public schools and other municipal buildings.
As part of the initial phase of its retro-commissioning survey program for the City of Hartford, SBS conducted a broad assessment of the major energy-consuming equipment and systems within four elementary schools in the district (Dr. James H. Naylor, Alfred E. Burr, Sarah J. Rawson and Noah Webster MicroSociety Magnet Elementary Schools) to determine their eligibility to participate in the Retro-Commissioning program. These four schools are currently in the Implementation Phase of the retro-commissioning process, putting into place those energy conservation measures which were identified during the initial Investigation Phase.
Hartford’s Classical Magnet School has recently been added to participate in the retro-commissioning program. SBS is currently performing initial Investigation Phase surveys and assessments.
